Kundalini yoga is known as the yoga of awareness. It consists of specific sets of exercises, known as a kriya, designed to shift the energy you have available to you for positive effect. The exercises combine breath and movement, you are not holding poses, rather moving through them to release blockages and/or redistribute energy.  This is followed by a period of deep relaxation and then a short meditation. While there is certainly physical benefits to a yoga class you may find that after a Kundalini yoga class you notice a sense of calm alertness and/or peacefulness, some would even say it is more of a spiritual experience…..There is no prior yoga experience necessary and you do the kriya at the level you are at, honouring your body’s wisdom of what it can do – you may surprise yourself!
